One of those days

The scripture says, "on one of those days." Tell your neighbour, one of those days (Luke 5:17). I believe this is one of those days. There are many days, but we need days like this. This day was singled out as one of those days as He was teaching.

"And Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Him to heal" (Luke 5:17). Tell your neighbour, today is one of those days. You don't sound as though you believe that.

Let us stand. You look as though you've been sitting too long.

You see, we can be sitting in the house, and the power of God can be present, and you can just be counted as a byword. The Pharisees were there. They were religious people. But the writer of Luke was saying this day was one of those days. What kind of days?

I believe today is like one of those days when the angel came down and stirred the waters (John 5:4). Open your mouth and say, "I believe too." The power of God was present to heal. Are you present? Some of you are not too sure if you're in the building. How do you know you're present? Touch somebody next to you. Tell them, "You're present." Some of you seem as though you're not too certain you're present, so I wanted people to touch you so you can feel it.

The power of God was present to heal. Have your seat. Can I have ten persons who are excited enough to shout, "It's one of those days"? Now can I have ten persons who know what they're saying? What kind of day?

Jesus knew it. The power of God was present.

Some men were bringing

Verse 18: "And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralysed" (Luke 5:18). There was something about that day those men were able to understand and recognise. We can move that which cannot be moved into this atmosphere, into this presence, and something will happen. Can you feel it?

"And behold, some men." Do we have people like this in this house? The power of God can be present to heal, but if you don't match it, if you don't bring, if you don't connect to the power, it can just be there. The Pharisees were there, but they were not affected by the power. They did not experience it. But some men who were far away had a friend with a need, and they decided they were going to bring him.

Tell your neighbour, you've got to bring your problem to the presence. You've got to bring your problem where the power is.

"And they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus." The power of God was present. They had a problem. But to have the problem fixed, there must be proximity. And this proximity doesn't come about because you know scriptures. It comes about because you get up and move by faith. We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). You need to allow your faith to move you to where the power is. You can be in a building where the power is, but unless your faith moves you from the outside to the inside...

They brought him in. Tell your neighbour, you need to come in. Some of you still look as though you're on the outside. Your mind is somewhere else. Set your mind on heavenly things, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 3:1-2). I believe He's present here, and I set my mind on Him.

"Seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus." Not lay him in his mess, in his problem, in his paralysed state somewhere else, but where Jesus was, where the power to heal was.

How did they know?

How did they know that this was the day the power was present to heal? You ever thought about that? How did they connect the two? They connected the two knowing that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). They connected it knowing that everywhere He went, He healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead. It's time for you to connect the two.

Nobody was in the meeting to text them or give them a voice call and say, "Wow, it's fire, it's lit in the church, hurry up and come down." There was nothing like that. But they understood: if I have a need, Jesus is able to meet it.

It was that kind of faith, like Mary and Martha. "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died" (John 11:21). Because wherever You are, virtue flows. Wherever You are, power proceeds. And He is here.

When I told you to touch your neighbour, you got excited because you could see them. When I say He's here, some people are wondering. Some persons are still outside this building, outside this meeting. Give a better shout and help them come in. He's where? Here. Some are about to enter church. Not the building. Church.

Present in the house, absent in the kitchen

How do you know He's here? He lives in you. But you might be absent from church this morning. In the building, but absent from church. He's here because I am here. I'm present. Tell your neighbour, "I'm present." He's present because I am present.

Hear what I'm saying. In many Christians Christ lives, but He's absent. How can that be? It sounds like a contradiction.

You have some persons living in your home, but when you go down to the kitchen and see the condition of the kitchen, you know they're absent. They might be in the building, but absent. There is no agreement. There is no unity. There is no oneness in how you tackle the issue. They're in the home, but they're never with you to solve the problem. You're looking at me. It's true. I know I was a culprit. I'm sure your children are doing the same thing to you. You rant, then they go and sing in the car. You did the same thing, and now you understand what it is to be a parent. You understand why they were always fretting. People can be present in a home physically, but by faith, by connection, by relationship, by action, they're absent.

Jesus can be living in you, but unless you connect to Him, unless you allow Him by faith to work through you, it can be as though He's absent. You're getting no help. You're seeing no breakthrough. Nothing is happening for you. Not because He's not in you, but because you've never engaged Him by faith.

You've never understood that all things are... Tell me. Some of you are not sure. You don't know that scripture. All things are possible to him who believes (Mark 9:23). This is what I'm getting at. You can know scripture, but unless you connect to it, unless it becomes alive in you, it stays logos as logos.

The Bible says man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Every rhema. We've got to move from this and move to "Amen." We need to understand the word of God is alive, quick and powerful (Hebrews 4:12). Do you have it within you?

Finding no way in

"But finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd" (Luke 5:19). Sometimes when I'm listening to worship, I can see the struggle to bring Jesus in. Many times the struggle is not with the worship team. It's with us, bringing Jesus into this worship. Our mind is everywhere. We sing the song. We talk about Jesus, but we're just repeating things. We can't bring Him in. You have problems and you still can't bring them to where Jesus is.

Notice they did not take Jesus to the problem. They found where the power was, where Jesus was. He's enthroned where? In the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). Say it so the others can hear you.

You see, we sing that song, "When the glory comes." It's a very nice song. But the glory will come when you stick to Him, when the worship is on Him. It's not if the glory comes. It's when it comes.

"Finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd." You can have so many things crowding out your access to Jesus. The drummer plays too slow, the drummer plays too fast, the keyboard is a little too loud. You walk through the door and somebody didn't greet you. You didn't like how they looked at you. You left home and quarrelled all the way to church. The devil is a liar. When you've grown past that, you say you're maturing in the Lord. But those who know what I'm talking about: you jump in the car and let a spirit overtake you. Not the Holy Ghost. A spirit of quarrel. From home to church. Your whole morning is messed up.

So many things crowd you out from Him. You need to put that to the side. Tell your neighbour, you need to find a way to cut through the crowd. To get to Jesus, you have to know how to cut through the crowd, through those things and those people that want to hinder you from getting close to Him. And that's one of the biggest hindrances in services. Many times you'll hear the worship leader saying, "Come on, let's worship the Lord." They're trying to get you to cut through the crowd.

Unbelief

One of the biggest hindrances, the biggest veil that stops us getting through, is unbelief. Tell your neighbour, "Not me." When you read Hebrews chapters 3 and 4, it reminds us about the Israelites. The Bible says they perished in the wilderness because of unbelief (Hebrews 3:19). Unbelief will rob you of what God wants to do.

Familiarity

Another one is familiarity. "Oh, we know pastor. We know apostle." You know people, but you need to be like the apostles. As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:16, "From now on we regard no one according to the flesh" (2 Corinthians 5:16). The same Jesus that John laid his head upon in the Gospels (John 13:23) was the same Jesus he saw in Revelation, and he fell at His feet as dead (Revelation 1:17). You can know people in the flesh and become familiar, but if you don't connect to what they're carrying in the spirit, you will miss what God wants to do.

The Bible says God confirms His word with signs following (Mark 16:20). And many times we miss it, because we're looking for confirmation of a minister. So when the words are spoken, we don't connect to them because of familiarity, and we miss what God wants to do.

Lack of action

Another reason we don't connect to the power of God is a lack of action. Tell your neighbour, "He's talking about some people, but not me. I have faith. I know pastor, I know apostle, I know the leaders, but I know there's a grace resting on their lives." Some of you don't believe that. Some of you do.

When people got to Jesus, He sometimes asked them, "Do you believe I am able to do this?" (Matthew 9:28).

Jesus in the house and nobody drew

It's a sad thing when we talk about familiarity. Let me go back there for a minute. When Jesus was out raising the dead, casting out demons, doing all kinds of miracles, the Bible says even His brothers didn't believe in Him (John 7:5). Imagine having God living in your house, physically embodied in Christ Jesus, the fullness of God resting in Him (Colossians 2:9).

When I ask, "Is God in this place?" the first thing some people say is yes. His brothers and sisters had Jesus in their home. They touched Jesus. They played with Jesus. But none of them ever felt virtue flow out of Him like the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:30). You can have Him in your home. You can have Him in church. You can have Him living inside, because your body is the temple. But you never feel virtue flow out.

Wireless transfer

I was listening to Pastor Chris the other day at a leaders' conference, alluding to this. When he was going to the conference, he felt virtue flowing out of him when he stepped onto the plane, going out to everybody on the plane.

I remember in Bible school a few years ago, I felt the same thing as we were ministering. A young woman walked up, and I literally felt virtue leave me, and she hit the ground.

When you read the Bible and you have some experiences, you know wireless charging is nothing new. Wireless transfer is nothing new. It's something they've picked up from the realm of the spirit. Power can be released wirelessly. Do you believe that?

There's power to heal, but I'm waiting for somebody who's going to draw. The scripture says Jesus was one day in His hometown and He could not do many miracles there. Why? Because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:58). Tell them, the power is present. What will you do about it?

Go up

"But finding no way in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof" (Luke 5:19). When you can't find a way through, tell your neighbour, you've got to go up. Some of you can't process it yet. But say it, and it will be processed in your mind. When you can't find your way through the crowd, you have to go up.

You need to turn your attention to heaven. You need to come before the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). You need to come to Mount Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:22). Before you have a breakthrough, you must go up. That's why Paul keeps saying, set your mind on things above (Colossians 3:2). Go up.

Jesus taught them to pray. The Bible says early in the morning He went up into the mountain and prayed (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12). Sometimes we read those scriptures and don't understand the prophetic signs. It's a prophetic language. The physical teaches something. Every morning you need to go up.

Let me give you another secret. Christians should not come down. Christians should live from a heavenly place.

Jesus went up. I spoke just now about a crowd. In Matthew 17 He went up the mountain and was transfigured (Matthew 17:1-2), and the glory that was contained within, the flesh gave way. Tell your neighbour, when you go up, you leave the flesh below. I'm saying a lot of things here. Some will catch it, some won't. Some may have to listen to this message again, then go into your Bible and read.

Moses went up on the mountain, and the glory of God came down, and Moses was called into the glory of God. And when he came down, his face shone (Exodus 34:29).

You must break through. The presence you're feeling here should be normal for Christians every day. In the morning you wake up and say, "Papa, good morning. Holy Ghost, good morning." I can say that because I'm seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

They went up. You go up, and then you break the ceiling from over your head. You go up in worship and you break the limitations off of you. You break that which says you cannot achieve or cannot have what God has for you. Are you ready to break limitations this morning? Are you ready to go where you've never gone before?

The final frontier

How many have heard the term "the final frontier"? Someone says Star Wars. What they're talking about is conquering realms you've never entered before. Are you ready to go somewhere you've never gone before? Are you ready, like these men, to do something you've never done before? Imagine carrying a man up to a roof. That would have been a place he had never gone before. Not just physically, but psychologically. "I'm crippled and you're taking me where? To the roof?"

The faith of the paralysed man

We talk about the faith of the men who took him to the roof and broke it open. But you hardly find anybody talk about the faith of the crippled man. Because I can't understand anybody in their natural mind agreeing to that. Four men carrying me up. If one loses his balance, he can jump. If they see something scary, they can run. But I must harness a certain level of faith, a God kind of faith, that says, "Even if they carry me up and I fall and get more crippled, there is Someone in the house who is able to bring the dead back to life. Every paralysed part can receive life when I'm in His presence." That's a God kind of faith. "Carry me up, boys. Climb."

Tell your neighbour, let's climb. Let's go higher. I have to get in by any means. I must have my breakthrough. "How much further, boys? Let's go."

That's what you do sometimes in worship. The worshippers are at a certain level and they're climbing. You don't sit by and say, "I wonder what they're trying to do." Many people outside looked at those men and said, "They can't get in either. There are sick and crippled people outside the building who can't get in, and look at these Jesus freaks trying to climb the building. You ever see anything like that? Taking a man onto a building. These people can really go overboard." You ever say that in worship? "She can really go overboard. It didn't call for all of that. Wait till the crowd eases up." But those men understood that the power was present there and then.

Mascara and high heels

Some persons will say, "Look how I'm dressed for church. Climb a roof? I have on my mascara. I have on my foundation. I can't get sweaty. Have you seen these heels? If I kneel down here, this floor will scratch my shoes. I'll wait until it's easy. I'll wait until they give the altar call, and then I'll walk out."

And when it doesn't happen, you're like the man at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asked, "Do you want to be healed?" He said, "I've been trying for long, but every time the angel comes and stirs the water, people jump in before me" (John 5:6-7). Jesus never asked him why he wasn't healed. Jesus asked him, "Do you want to be healed?" But we can make excuses.

Tell your neighbour, "I'm going up. Mascara, wig, anything, I am going up. High heels, tight jacket, I'm going up." You laugh, but sometimes when the jacket or the shirt is too tight you don't want to raise your hand too high. You don't want to hear a certain noise. Sometimes you step out of the car in those pants and you've got to come out a certain way. But tell your neighbour, by any means, get up. Get up on the roof.

The roof speaks of an elevated place, a higher plane. It speaks of where John heard a voice saying, "Come up here" (Revelation 4:1). There are some things you cannot accomplish by staying in the same place. You've got to get up. And getting up takes a certain level of effort and faith.

The man could have said to them, "I don't want to take the risk of you taking me to the roof, and when I do get in, I don't get healed. You can make the situation worse." Many times that's what the enemy says to us. "Why bother yourself and not get healed?" But Jesus is present. And the Bible says everywhere He went, He healed them all (Matthew 12:15). Tell your neighbour, He healed them all.

And they broke open the roof. Let us stand.

Treasure in earthen vessels

The Bible says we have this treasure in earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7). The woman with the alabaster box was very prophetic too (Mark 14:3). You can have the oil and the fragrance inside, but unless you're willing to make sacrifices, it cannot be broken. Tell your neighbour, "This treasure in this vessel must impact my life. It must work for me. I'm tired of having treasure and not using it."

More than he bargained for

When Jesus saw their faith, what did He say? He said to the man, "Your sins are forgiven you" (Luke 5:20). The man came for healing, but Jesus said, you're going to have your deliverance too. Those things you've been struggling with, I forgive you of them, and I free you from the shackles of them. Sins being forgiven is not just about erasing and forgetting. It's about empowering you to live above it. He came for one thing, and Jesus gave him more than he was bargaining for.

I don't want to read the other part, because we don't have any Pharisees in here. But Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed" (Luke 5:24). Tell your neighbour, whatever is limiting you, whatever is causing you to live a lowly life, beneath your potential, it's time to come off of it. It's time to rise up from it. Get up.

*Worship: "Worthy Is the Lamb," "We Crown You," "As the River Flows."*

Healing ministry

If you're sick in your body, come to the altar right now. It's one of those days when the power is present to heal. Everything you see happening here indicates His power, His presence to heal. I don't care what it is. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. I don't care what the doctor said to you or what report they gave you. We'll give you a report today: you're healed. Open your mouth and say, "This is the report. I am healed."

*Words of knowledge follow for intestinal and digestive problems, pain on the right side, spine, hip, and leg.*

The cast and the embassy

As I lay my hands on you, you'll go and check with the doctor. I remember a man who was a minister in a church. The Lord gave me a word of knowledge about pain in the hand. He didn't come up, but he went home and took off the cast, because he realised the pain wasn't there any more. That was somewhere in Georgetown where I went to preach, and he drove all around the community visiting churches just to find this church and give his testimony.

Another time we were up on the East Coast, and a woman said, "I've been looking for you to tell you. You ministered and told us to rest our own hand on the place." She went back to the doctor, and they looked at it again and said, "We won't do surgery now. Check back in a week. We're seeing something." She said, "Pastor, look. It disappeared. Gone. No surgery." When I had called it out, nobody knew who I was talking about.

And another said, "I'm glad I see you to tell you. I've just returned from the US. I was turned down four times before you prayed. I told my family I'm going back to the embassy. My son asked me if I'm crazy." But she said, "Glory to God," and she had just come back from vacation in the US. Isn't God great? You will have your own testimony today.

What I'm saying to you, it's not about long praying. I didn't even lay hands on that woman. I just spoke. When the man took off his cast, I just spoke. And like Jesus, I'll speak again this morning, and you will be healed. Bone issues, skeletal issues, are going to be fixed. Chronic issues, blood issues, fixed this morning. Growths in the body are going to dissolve this morning, in Jesus' name.

*A member testifies that multiple fibroids requiring surgery had been reducing since prayer, and the pain left during the service.*

Signs of healing

Sometimes there are signs when you're being healed. You can feel the fire of God or electricity in that part of your body. Sometimes you don't feel anything.

*Sister Weaver testifies that numbness in her hands and feet, which two hospitals could not explain, had gone; she only realised it while sitting in the service.*

When I said the power of God was present to heal, a lot of persons thought it was still for the altar call. But I wasn't just saying something. I was declaring what was present and what was happening.

We're not praying for prayer's sake. I'm praying because I believe the Lord is a healer. So please check and see what you couldn't do before. I know persons with certain types of infections who don't want to come up and say what it is. You're being healed.

Tell your neighbour, God doesn't give information for information's sake. You know when somebody tells you something nice, but it's just water in the mouth? God doesn't operate like that. When He gives a word of knowledge, it's because He wants to heal, or many times He's already begun to heal that particular issue.

Some of you are going to go away and then realise you're healed. Please come back and give your testimony. I know many persons don't like to testify. You're frightened of the stage. But you're not doing it for you. You're doing it for the Lord, returning praise and thanks to Him, and for the benefit of your brothers and sisters, encouraging them that God still heals.
